Darfur Peace & Development is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization with headquarters in Washington, DC and offices in Khartoum and El Fasher Sudan.

DPDO provides humanitarian and development assistance to the victims of conflict in Darfur, Sudan without regard to ethnicity, gender, age or religious beliefs.

DPDO works to foster reconciliation, to facilitate just governance and to enable Darfurians to rebuild their homeland in effective, sustainable ways.

DPDO also promotes awareness of the crisis in the United States and advocates for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

10/6/08 - Qatar, Libya discuss efforts to achieve peace in Darfur

October 5, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — The Qatari Prime minister discussed with his Libyan counterpart in Tripoli today the ongoing efforts to hold peace talks between Sudanese government and the rebel movement in Darfur. Qatar proposed officially since last month to host peace talks between the different parties in Darfur conflict. October 5, 2008 – A military contingent from the United Nations-African Union hybrid peacekeeping force (UNAMID) was dispatched to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in South Darfur to reinforce UNAMID police forces and provide overnight protection, the peacekeeping mission said Sunday. 10/5/08 - Sudan revokes visa of US special envoy before reversing course

October 4, 2008 (WASHINGTON) — The Sudanese government revoked the visa of US special envoy Richard Williamson, a pro- Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) newspaper reported today.
